Very Large 3D CAD and Laser Scan Models

Traditional Systems
Softvise Cadmium

Traditional Systems

Limited project size

Most 3D CAD systems and other traditional engineering solutions are optimized for interactive manipulation of complex geometrical models including free-form surfaces and other elaborate modelling techniques.

Consequently, these systems need plenty of computing power and system memory which limits both maximum project size and visualization speed.

Other systems are designed specifically for 3D visualization purposes but do not feature the most advanced computer graphics technologies which allow to overcome certain limitations of the computing system and its graphics card.

Consequently, these systems are limited in their maximum project size as well.

Softvise Cadmium

Virtually unlimited project size

Softvise Cadmium has been designed from the ground up for processing and visualizing very large 3D engineering models.

The system is built upon Softvise's proprietary 3D computer graphics technology. This ensures high rendering quality and high interaction speed even for the largest of projects.

This means for practical application that the size of a Cadmium project is only limited by the available mass storage.

More Than 50 File Formats

Softvise Cadmium can read many 3D file formats from several domains with a specific focus on mechanical engineering and digital construction formats.

The models coming from the various source systems can be aggregated to a complex Digital Twin without any restrictions.

CAD and laser scan models of arbitrary sizes can be mixed as needed.

Advanced Features for Best Productivity

Presentation Slides

Presentation slides can be created at points of interest with annotations and objects hidden or highlighted. Slide transitions are animated.

Object Search

All alphanumerical attributes are preserved and stored in a database. On that basis, objects can be found very quickly. Wildcard and regex search is possible.

Clipping Planes

Clipping planes can be set up at any angle. They can also be associated with a presentation slide.

Sectional Drawings

A sectional drawing along a given clipping plane can be exported as PNG, JPEG or SVG.

Measurement

Distances, angles and areas can be measured freely on all model parts, CAD or laser scan alike.

Data Export

3D objects can be exported to JT, OBJ and several other formats, while alphanumerical data can be exported to Excel.

Stereo Visualization

Active and passive stereoscopy is supported by default.
Please contact our partners for dedicated hardware.

Virtual Reality

VR headsets, powerwalls and tracking systems are supported as options while multi-wall Virtual Reality systems need the Cadmium VR edition.

Frequently Asked Questions

For further information please get in touch with our sales team.

Softvise Cadmium requires a PC or notebook running Windows 10 or higher.

The software runs well on average systems with on-board graphics hardware. For best performance we recommend a system with at least 16 Gigabyte of system memory and a high-end consumer graphics card.

For stereoscopic display and Virtual Reality applications we recommend a high-end professional graphics card with quad-buffer stereo capabilities.

Softvise Cadmium benefits greatly from SSDs and other fast mass-storage systems.

A perpetual license of Softvise Cadmium can be purchased for a non-recurring fee. Updates and maintenance are included in the first year after purchase. To keep Softvise Cadmium up-to-date throughout its whole lifetime we offer a maintenance package.

Additionally, Softvise Cadmium can be rented for a quaterly or yearly period. The rental model includes updates and maintenance.

Softvise Cadmium comes with a license protection.

There are single-seat licenses available that can be installed directly on the computer where Softvise Cadmium is installed. Alternatively, we send out a USB dongle that can be connected to the system that should run Softvise Cadmium.

Please note that it is not possible to transfer a file-based license to another device without our assistance.

Additionally, there is a floating license available that allows to use one license on several devices. The licensing system for floating licenses needs to be installed on a server. Softvise Cadmium needs to have continuous access to this server.

Licenses can be maintained on the Softvise License Portal.
